QA Chapter 4 · Profit, Loss & Discount
■ Profit % and loss % are always on Cost Price; discount % is always on Marked Price.
■ MP is m% above CP and discount is d% → profit % = m − d − md/100.
■ Successive discounts d₁, d₂ → single discount = d₁ + d₂ − d₁d₂/100.
“Profit on Cost, Discount on Mark.” Assume CP = 100 and work in multipliers: 1.4 × 0.8 = 1.12 → 12% profit.
Then a PYQ-based example and the trap
Answer: 200 CP = x, SP = 1.1x; new SP = 1.2 × 0.9x = 1.08x; 1.1x − 1.08x = 4 → x = 200.
Same SP with x% profit and x% loss is always a loss of x²/100 %. Same CP cancels out. Read which one is “same”.

Is this for beginners?
It is a revision handbook, not a full course. It assumes you have studied the CAT syllabus once and want one compact book for the last weeks.
Will it help for XAT, SNAP, NMAT or IIFT?
Yes. The core syllabus of Quant, DILR and verbal ability is common across MBA entrance exams. Each exam has its own pattern and extra sections, so check your exam’s latest official notification.
Are the mock papers real CAT papers?
No. The three mock papers are original, CAT-pattern practice papers. Your mock score is a practice indicator only and does not predict your actual percentile.
Are the examples from past papers?
Examples marked “PYQ-based” are modelled on question types asked in previous CAT papers. Numbers and wording have been changed, so they are practice questions, not reproductions of official papers.
Is it in Hindi?
No. CAT is held in English only, so this book is in English.
How do I get the book?

Can I share it with friends?

What we collect. When you visit, our advertising tools (Meta Pixel) may collect your browsing activity on this site, such as page views and button clicks, together with device and browser details and cookie identifiers. We do not run a signup form that collects your phone number.
Payments. Purchases are made on Instamojo’s page. Instamojo processes your payment and details such as UPI, card or bank information. We do not see or store them. Instamojo’s own privacy policy applies to that data. We receive your name and email so we can deliver the ebook and support you.

Licence. When you buy, you get a personal, non-transferable licence to read the PDF for your own study. You may not copy, resell, share, upload, or distribute it, in whole or in part. All rights remain with the author.
Price and payment. Prices are in Indian rupees and shown on the Instamojo sales page, where payment is completed. The price on that page at the time of purchase applies.
No guarantee of results. The book is a study aid. We do not guarantee any exam score, selection or rank. Exam patterns and syllabi change, so always check the official notification of your exam. Practice questions are original and exam-style, not actual past-paper questions.

Delivery and Refund Policy
Delivery. The PDF is delivered digitally through Instamojo right after successful payment. No physical item is shipped. If you paid once but did not receive the file, or cannot open it, write to and we will resend the download link. This is a delivery fix, not a refund.
