Useful for exams with a banking or economy section

Banking and financial awareness carry heavy weight in bank exams and show up in the general awareness papers of many others. Only the depth changes: bank Mains ask rates, institutions and current affairs; SSC and State exams ask one-line facts; UPSC asks concepts.

Last-day revision, made simpler

Typical last-day revision

  • Banking notes are scattered across books, PDFs and news
  • Rates, limits and dates change and are easy to mix up
  • Headquarters, taglines and committees blur together
  • It is hard to decide which chapters matter for your exam

With this workbook

  • Key facts, one box per chapter
  • A mnemonic and one solved MCQ to lock it in
  • A trap list: one exam trap for every chapter
  • Key numbers and abbreviations on quick-finder pages

See exactly what you get

Every chapter is one page in the same layout. Here is part of Chapter 28 as it appears in the book, followed by traps from the list at the back.

Chapter 28 · DICGC, Ombudsman & Fraud Rules

Key facts
■ DICGC: formed 1978; wholly-owned subsidiary of RBI; HQ Mumbai.
■ Cover: ₹5 lakh per depositor per bank (principal + interest), from 4 Feb 2020. Premium is paid by banks, not depositors.
■ RB-Integrated Ombudsman Scheme: launched 12 Nov 2021. Complain to the bank first; approach the Ombudsman if there is no reply in 30 days. No fee.
Mnemonic
“5 lakh, 90 days, banks pay.” Ombudsman: “30 days wait, zero fee.” Fraud reporting: “3 days = zero loss.”

Then a solved MCQ and the trap

Q. The deposit insurance premium to DICGC is paid by:
(a) Depositors
(b) Banks
(c) Reserve Bank of India
(d) Central Government

Answer: (b) Insured banks pay the premium; it cannot be passed on to depositors.
Exam trap
The ₹5 lakh cover is per depositor per bank, not per account or per branch. PACS and NBFC deposits are not insured.

From the trap list at the back

Ch 2. RBI’s first HQ = Calcutta; RBI was nationalised in 1949, not 1935.
Ch 7. Scheduled bank = 2nd Schedule of the RBI Act 1934, not the Banking Regulation Act.
Ch 11. Payments Bank: deposits up to ₹2 lakh, no loans, no credit cards.
Ch 16. Cheque validity = 3 months. The drawee of a cheque is always a bank.

Questions, answered

Is this for beginners?

It is a revision workbook, not a full course. It assumes you have studied the topics once from a standard textbook. If you are starting from zero, use it as a map of what to learn, then come back to it before the exam.

Will it help for my exam?

If your exam has a banking, financial awareness or economy section, yes. That covers IBPS, SBI, RBI, NABARD, insurance exams, UPSSSC RO-ARO, SSC and UPSC Prelims. Depth differs by exam, so check your exam’s latest official syllabus.

Is it in Hindi?

Yes. The PDF is bilingual: every English page is followed by the same page in Hindi, and the index gives page numbers for both languages.

How current is the content?

Rates and developments are covered up to October 2026. Policy rates can change at every RBI policy meeting, and office-holders and scheme limits change too, so re-check Chapters 5, 33 and 34 against an official or trusted news source on the exam morning.

Are the MCQs from past papers?

No. They are original, exam-style practice questions written to reinforce each chapter.

How was the book prepared?

It was compiled with AI assistance from standard banking sources, with recent developments checked against public sources. As with any study aid, cross-check rates and current-affairs items against rbi.org.in, npci.org.in and other official sources.

How do I get the book?

It is a PDF. You get the download link right after payment on Instamojo and can read it on any device.

Can I share it with friends?

Please don’t. The book is copyrighted. Ask your friends to buy their own copy for ₹49.

Can it guarantee a score?

No book can. This one helps you revise smarter in the final hours. Your results still depend on your practice and preparation.
